The bitterest pill

It was the bitterest pill I have ever tasted
when i realised there was so much hatred,
for people homeless and dispossessed,
by a society narcissistic and obsessed,
about the way way that they live
and their reluctance to show compassion and give.
It was the bitterest pill I have ever tasted,
knowing that immigration can cause so much hatred,
we bombed the homes of many of those that flee,
we killed so many and their bodies litter the streets
and as the try to escape from the nightmare
we sit and watch them drown at sea,
when did we become such a compassionless society,
it’s become so bitter and cynical it’s hard to believe,
that this was once a country that welcomed all with open arms,
it seems hard to take that we become what we fought against,
right wing fascist beliefs and ideologies
and it it all seems wrapped up in greed,
frightened by fear mongers who say to me,
they are all terrorists and after your homes and after your money.
I am a bit brighter than this,
and I know the truth and this isn’t it
and I have love and compassion for all,
I show tolerance and wish peace could rise above this ,
and that this hateful society would fall.
It is the bitterest pill i have ever tasted
but it’s time now to end all this hatred,
It’s time to unite as one humanity,
take down all borders and and set us all free,
not divided and segregated by those who crave power and greed.
