~ THE BONE CONJURERS ~
{tales from the mind of a maniac}
An early evening shadow crawls lowly sleep
Crying Latin through the air of a cold nocturne
Draws a crooked circle, a wiry whirling dervish
As he prepares the blood of black otters
To conjure an evil bloodline's romanticism...
An old woman falls down dead, gray suffocation
Near the pit where the flames of hell will cremate her
Like a lonely necromancer, wearing a dead man's topcoat
Much akin, to the old trance-like state of a rotting soldier
The Bone Conjurers jump seamlessly through nightmarish themes
And all odd anticipation, curdles, into green pathetic drips
Tapping out time on the old mausoleums of New Orleans
While plotting to prey on the sinful innocent...
But before daylight stops the Bone Conjurers devout devouring
They must first stop to growl at the gravediggers market place
For all who perform such necessary deeds as these
Are surely a shining abomination
Passed down
With a most noble,
And most elegant,
Blood lusting,
Heritage...

Reads like a story Tony, it's a great read
and I love the title...Bone Conjurers.
Deep and dark!!
'Like a lonely necromancer, wearing a dead man's top coat'
Love that line, probably cos I could apply it to myself right now!! Hugs 💕
Tony this just proves just how good you are for not just thinking outside the box, but for thinking outside the box making factory.
And after reading and then rereading if Poe were alive today would most certainly tip you a wink with a wry respectful smile.
For that is what I see in you after reading your beautiful bible black poem you have darkly written with not a solitary word out of place so that it topples or misfires.
A great grim read and love your line...
'Tapping out time on the old mausoleums of New Orleans'
Superb to read through-out for it pulls you in and then never lets go.
Thanks for writing something special from poetry's left field and full honours to you Tony for creatively doing so.
