The Boogeyman

Listen hear dear child,
Have you heard the legend?
The legend of a creature,
That will come if you've been rotten.
He a waits in your closet,
So I have been told,
Listening to you carefully,
Behind your closet door.
As you chose to be rotten,
The creature will awake,
Taking his wrath on you,
For you have made a mistake.
First you hear some knocking,
Knocking at your door,
A warning you should listen to,
Or there will be more.
Did not heed the warning,
Now it's time to pay!
For now you hear the scratching,
Scratching at your door.
Listen hear dear child,
Better close your eyes,
Hide under your blankets,
Do not make a sound,
For now your door is creaking,
Creaking openly,Β
Only you to blame,
For you had set him free.
The creature is now lurking,
Lurking across your floor,
Slithering under your bed,
A place where he will feed,
The creature is hungry,
Waiting for you to move,
Or so it has been said.
For as you take that step,
The step to the door,
The creature will grab you,
Pulling you to the floor,
Dragging you under,
Under your bed to feed.
Listen hear dear child,
Do not misbehave,
For if you do not listen,
The Boogeyman will come for you,
Should I say no more.
