The colonizers

(Apocolypto)

The colonizers

great ships sail
anchors drag in the sand
smaller boats rowed
to take men  to inner land
these men came from afar
way over the seas
with thoughts of settling
new territories

other people's 'terra nullius'
or
empty land in Latin
is what they 'incolo'
which means to inhabit

these men brought with them
deadly machines for wars
brand new religions
new rules and laws

these men saw the indigenous
as wild
and so they tamed
took away their lands
for their own to claim

leaving the natives
in misery and pain
that their sweet paradise
would never be the same
