The corona catastrophe
Silently shrillĀ
Ā Ā Ā a silent chillĀ
seems to have run down the spineĀ
Ā Ā of our blue planet windmillĀ
So many deceasedĀ
Ā Ā Ā Too many illĀ
mounting and surmountingĀ
Ā Ā Ā the healthcare billĀ
Ā Breathing for manyĀ
Ā Ā Ā is like climbing uphillĀ
Ā or like panting onĀ
Ā Ā Ā your home treadmillĀ
Ā And it's frightening whenĀ
Ā Ā Ā there is nil a pill.
Ā A minute invisibleĀ
Ā Ā Ā virus doth kill .
Pray to God for mercyĀ
Ā Ā Ā bow and kneel!Ā
Many are dyingĀ
Ā Ā Ā without a willĀ
Ā It's safer to stay home
Ā Ā Ā by the window sillĀ
The world seems to have comeĀ
Ā Ā Ā to a standstillĀ
You now have time to sharpen
Ā Ā your poetic quillĀ
In lockdown prayĀ
Ā Ā and ink still spillĀ
You may honeĀ
Ā Ā your poetic skillĀ
Until the virusĀ
Ā Ā Ā has had its fill.Ā
Corona they say feels like drowningĀ
Ā Ā Ā like a fish without a gillĀ
for we can't breatheĀ
Ā Ā Ā like the eel or krill.Ā
In mouths hot waterĀ
Ā Ā Ā flush and swillĀ
Exterminate this virus?Ā
Ā Ā only God can and will.
