THE CUCKOO CLOCK

Every hour of every day as of it was a cue
Out of a clock in the kitchen he went cuckoo
We've had that clock for many a year
Never once did the cuckoo fail to appear

It was on the 3rd of May things began to change
The cuckoo in the clock started to act strange
Every hour he came out as many times before
Instead of a cuckoo sound we heard a snore

Was the cuckoo telling us he was really tired
A loose connection perhaps needs to be rewired
The snore was soon replaced by a whine
What was happening to this clock of mine ?

We both decided the cuckoo clock had its day
Nothing lasts forever is what people say
I dismantled it gently and into a box it went
Recalling each passing hour we joyfully spent
