The Deep

The Deep

Some days I'm standing on the shore,
The waves tickle my feet, teasing and taunting,
Inviting me in.
They promise it's not deep,
Their soothing songs enchanting me.
The seagulls cry out their warning,
They have held witness to strays like me,
Far too many times.
But the water's depths call for me,
Waiting for the final requiem,
And it's too beautiful to not oblige.
