The divorce
The brake down

Where time slows to small car crawls
In the morning traffic you cried at the lights
To a song sang now by a person long
forgotten to me.
Older now I imagined you home circling
As sharks yourself into a state you went
North to escape from.
Fitzalan where we would bury the dog along
The side of the home a distant memory
Recognised by me only in dreams now.
My eyes shut I can see perfectly how
The stage was set for me early on.
I can see it plain on your face that there wasn't
Even room for a sister in those years to come
So her children grew without an uncle.
I was talking about you Mum, and the divorce
All those years ago.
Talk about being young, though not so small
That I can't remember.
