The Dragon Queen first installment

The tapestry lay heavy on her lap, she was done for today.
Folding the exquisite brocade carefully she found the place
she always put her work. The candles were lit and the lamps
on. it cast an eerie glow against the castle wall. Goblins and
creatures dark played on the stones.. since girlhood she had
witnessed the ritual of day to night ... and the lighting of the lamps.
Now she was grown. She could feel the weight of her life on
her shoulders.. she could hear the whispers of her place and her
rule.. she was a Queen. no less. The monarch of this realm with many
lives she is responsible for.
Sir Keraine he was not at the table this evening. A line of concern crossed her
beautiful pale face.. Red hair framed her ivory skin.. and glowing green eyes
like ancient emeralds shone forth. A  cloak of deepest jade green was
about her shoulder and her hooded face turned tp the door. she had no king.
She was a queen from birth inheriting from her father, as there was no other heir.
He had died in battle ten years ago..It had been a long ten years.. of loss, pain and sorrow. Her mother had died at her birth. and how she wished she was with her .. tonight especially. she would have wished for aQ motherly council.
For the Queen was in love.  She had not sought it out she had tried to love the suitors
that came to call... ones appropriately of rank, like princes and a few Lords and such.
sheeonair turned to and as she left the side yard of the castle her maid led  her horse
to her,  A tall steel grey mare the Queen''s favorite.  Up she went astride.. and dug her heels into the horse. she lept forward and galloped away in a flurry of dirt.
The maid was glad her queen knew how to ride... she was not worried..

In the town there was a tension.. a breeze that said dragon fire was at hand. It just had that feel to it.. Sir Kenyon was sipping his last bit of ale from the mug and admiring the
bar maids fine figure. She was a well built lass he thought... ah if only a bit younger.. he was.  Then the door to the bar was flung open and tbe  hooded figure at the door
caught his eye... he knew that ......OH NO ""She didnt take off on her own again.. he thought he had made it very clear why the young Queen should not take off on her own,
At that moment she saw him and called for him to meet her outside.. at once

T hank you for your comment... I truly love this character  as she depicts the best qualities of being human... and some of the weaknesses as well. I hope to turn her into a full novel... it will be fast paced and easy to read.... good for adults and adolescents... namaste Laraine
