The dreaded night

Darkness is slowly returning 
Horror will soon reign
The night terrors wait in the shadows 
Fear lays beside me again
I pull the quilt up high 
And curl up in a ball
I can feel the days medications running out 
Now I've little protection at all
Soon the hour I dread
I slowly drift of to sleep 
Time for past events 
From my subconscious now to creep
Absolute control 
This evil has over me
There's nothing I can do
Only death will set me free
Bird song breaks the curse
Morning slowly dawns
I uncurl my legs out slowly 
Stretching my arms up and yawn
Why do you get up early
Why don't you stay in bed
Swap places for an evening 
Live one night in my head
And you will understand 
You will see clearly why
I am relieved when morning comes
And I can wave the night goodbye
