The Eyes

The Eyes

They say if you're going to fall in love with  a persons features, to fall in love with their eyes; for the eyes are the only things that will remain the same as our bodies begin to wither like flowers dried out in the burning sun.

Yet the eyes that once held mine so lovingly, gently caressing then innocently diverting their gaze with a flutter, now holds them hard and long- no expression, no flutter, just an empty reminder that what once was is no longer.
