The Forlorn Road of Many Steps

The Forlorn Road of Many Steps

And on the fifth day the rain subsided,

And on a day of sunlight,Β

they wrote in peace...

O gracious king, god among man

O gracious king, claim this dun land

O gracious king, forthright and reserved!

O children of dusk, seekers of trust

Of man or woman, no title is earned

Now let thy appellation beΒ stable,

For in this cruel world, in reverence of fables,

No man, no woman, can stand in a hive,

That aspires for honor,Β

They shall not survive!

And so on the way home,

They will come to the end where the sunset and the heavens,Β

Have yet to begin

There they will leave in the calm blue waters,

And though they may falter

They shall always remain,

The captains of sons, and the martyrs of daughters.
