The Generation Today

What happened to
The kids today?
This generation is lazy and ungrateful
Nothing like back in my day
Â
We didnât get rides to and from
school
We never got name brand clothes
just to look cool
Â
âLunch moneyâ, in my house, was a term
unknown
You either ate FREE at the school cafeteria
or you brought lunch from home
Â
There were always chores after school
to do
There was never just coming home, grabbing
a snack, and chilling in your room
Â
What happened to the kids today?
This generation is spoiled and ungrateful
Nothing like back in my day
Â
We never got away with saying the
word, âboredâ
In two seconds flat weâd have a toothbrush
in our hand scrubbing the kitchen floor
Â
Discipline was big in our house and it wasnât
That âtime outâ or âin the cornerâ bullshit
It was that ass whoopin, make you loose
your breath shit
Â
Now and days kids seem to do whatever they
Want with no repercussions
Some living theyâre lives in full on
destruction
Â
What happened to kids today?
This generation is lazy, spoiled, and ungrateful
Nothing like back in my day

that is totally true linda
Hello Natashia...
Right on!
It's unheard of that a child of 8 years old has a key to their house and goes home and there's no one waiting for them...
If my parents called me to see if I made it home my first thought would have been what's wrong don't you trust me?
Which never happened even when it got it dark at 4:30 in the afternoon...
I called and talked to my Granddaughter yesterday and for the first time I was thinking to myself three adults in the house when she gets home from school and she had milk and cookies for a snack...
She was too busy to talk to me because she was on her Tablet...
Now, I understand why they're always asking for money and applying for every state funded program they can and they don't even pay rent...
But, they're having more babies...
My timing was good and her Tablet died and needed to go on charge so she came to the phone...
I asked do you have homework?
She said yes...
Did you do it?
No, I'm on my Tablet...
I said it's good you live with your Mom because if you lived with me you know what you'd be doing...
She said my homework...
Yup and then you'd be outside playing...
She said I know...
People tell me get ready for Great Grandchildren...
I said I don't know about Great that's debatable...
I hope I'm not to exposed to it because I can't even begin to imagine that generation...
It's nuts...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...

Thank you for all comments on my poem 'the generation today'. I know it's our fault ( the parents) but where did we go wrong? When did it fall apart? I'd rather blame technology (Lol)!
Apologize. I didn't see this comment until I posted mine further down the listÂ
Absolutely true! I gre up with respecting my grandparents or I could either go and look for a switch of my liking If it was too small, I'd get double the punushment.Â
I know that's right, same thing for me...It was the switch (lol) Thanks for reading
First, I agree with this generation issue but...Â
Aren't we the ones raising this generation???Â
What are we doing differently than our parents? And which direction do we look for advice? Your parent's parents (grandparents) or wait til we have grandkids to support, care, and teach???Â
Not a debate but a real question for honest answers.Â
True. Kids are getting worse as each day passes by and so are adults. I dread what the world will be like twenty years from now. Great poem.
I know, society in a whole....what a mess. Thank you for reading
great poem you are so right about kids today and what it was like to be kid when we were kids and what you couldn get away with remember the ruler on the desk if your were not listening or sitting the corner with hat on in the closet with door closed oh boy what days thay were
Those were the days...I don't miss them :) thank you for readingÂ
