the gentle leaf

And in the hills, the gentle leaf
It does not go insane
It holds itself with dignity, to fall
and fall again
And also river, stoic gush, it does
not stop, or know itself
To be, a pool, of mortal tears,
It moves only in forward rush
And tree and earth and cloud and
sky, they moan not
At the passer by
And humbled here, by all I see,
I feel disgust... at being me,
M

Hello Marion...
Are you listening to your lying head?
Thank you for sharing...
sparrowsong
Thanks love x
i like this poem Marion, very much. it unfolds in a lyrical, beguiling way, the ending is jarring.
We would all like to be more than what we are, nature just does its thing regardless of its troubles...nature is humbling Mark...thankyou my friend x
I like to think that the trees, and the sun, and the rivers all have voices. Everything does. We just need to listen. But that's just me ...lol
It's a lovely poem x
You know, just reread and hoped you didn't take the last line literally lol 😄😃😀😆
I didn't mean you..honest 😊
even at our lowest I find there is always still room for self disgust
disgust at being so weak and pathetic when nature is so strong and resilient. Thanks so much Tina xx
Oh i didn't think you meant me lol! Just that I got the sense of nature not being able to talk but I just re read your poem and I understand now how you meant more that it minds its own business and carries on .... cycle after cycle. We, humans, are nothing in the great scheme of things. Nothing except full of our own importance. And the 'importance' is extremely debatable 🤣🤣🤣 xx
Full of self importance is true...I sometimes think that debilitating depression is nothing more than a soul level realisation of exactly that
...we are futile...
nothing any of us do say think or create will last or make the tiniest dent in the fabric of the universe
time destroys all...eventually...
And on that cheery note...
Try to still have
a lovely Sunday...🤩😆🥰
Haha...that is sooo true! You have a good day! I will be back later to read more. At the moment I am having a go at painting a hare on a piece of wood I found in my art box.
Hares, as it turns out, are difficult to paint. Well, for me anyway xx
