THE GOOD OLD DAYS
The Good Stuff
Parents had time to teach their children right from wrong...
Reading stories at bedtime...
Talking together at the table...
On a warm evening watching the sunset and star gazing while roasting marshmallows by the fire...
Going to the Movies on a Saturday afternoon and going to the Five and Dime and getting a homemade treat...
Money was tight for many but, people managed somehow...
We learned to work young so we could have some spending cash and help Mama with a bill or two...
We didn't have Schools locked down...
We didn't get shot at the picture show...
If someone tried to grab you that was something new and you learn the meaning of fight or flight...
Your parents never warned you because, they didn't know that would be a lesson they would need to teach...
We didn't have the worry about going to a Concert or a Show and someone would want to harm you...
A 3 bedroom house cost around $14,000 to $15,000 in the late 60's...
A loaf of Bread was a nickle...
Then times began to change and it would come without a warning where a day old Loaf of Bread was a quarter...
The Cashiers on the old time Registers punching in each price by hand and counting change without a Calculator...
Paychecks were small but, compare it to today where even $10 an hour isn't going to be easy to purchase a $200,000 House built back in the 70's...
Grandma's advice about the importance of being a good girl and don't kiss boys...
Wondering how she married Grandpa and had kids but, didn't kiss...
I thought kissing made babies that's why you don't want to do it...
Mom told me she kissed Daddy and that's why my Brothers were here...
I said you should have wiped it off and walked away...
Now people are so open that Marriage becomes a piece of paper and Divorce Lawyers are high in demand...
The good old days was sung in fun about two kids kissing in a tree first comes love, then comes marriage then comes baby in a baby carriage...
Now, I don't know how the new song is sung because, the order of things has changed and love isn't as sacred anymore...
Even though the Bible tells us the original order was correct and that union would be blessed and not cursed...
I'm glad I'm not a product of today but, a product of the good old days...

Great to see you back. Lovely write and I agree so many things have changed, mainly because there are no communities anymore...all us women are working!...too long, too hard, too much and for too little money! I don't think it was all good though...life was still pretty tough...just a lot simpler...?
Hello Marion...
Thank you for the welcome back...
Glad to see you too...
Life is still pretty tough for many and a lot more complicated...
Kids were very strong back then and studies show what happens to children when they get older if they lay around too much when their young...
As we age more and they do too it will be more obvious to see how the difference really is a shame...
I think about all the teen pregnancies and the divorce rates and people and think that's just the times...
I used to be a people person but, so many have stepped on a path that I just won't go on...
They know their wrong especially the ones who claim to know the Bible and do wrong anyway...
They scare me more than someone with a loaded gun...
Thank you for your kind comment and support!

Hello Greg...
Tattoos and Piercings doesn't make a person not do the right thing it's the person themselves...
I don't understand the lack of politeness seems to me it goes hand and hand with that people seem to think they're entitled...
I don't know Greg, I think morals and politeness left at the same time...
?
It definitely was a better time indeed...
Thank you for your kind comment and support!
Best wishes and blessings!
