The Inveterate Poet

The Inveterate Poet

No liar, no chain-smoker, no drinker, or thief
Would ever compare, the longstanding temperament
'twixt heretic or wordsmith when begging relief
It is most difficult to break old habits seen
For the light is everlasting in beauty be
'tis an honor to sculpt the picturesque
A blissful joy in conveying love's company
An education in delving deep into the darkness
Where truth unfurled reflects all humanity
Exists an otherworldly momentum in wielding words
Once started, knows no end to the inveterate poet
For without his love of self expression
Without this sacred fountain from whence intention
Flows and grows into pages and pages of honest poetry
The Inveterate Poet would spiral into the architectural abyss
The Inveterate Poet would cease to be....

Well written, I often think of the inner turmoil and quest of this particular art form within the writer since I've been writing.
You captured it well.

Oh so clever Tony could not make my mind up between Oscar Wilde and
Wordsworth even though different both had that extra touch.
Stars of course one could not give anything less.Β  Brill....my friend.
