" THE JOY IN CHILHOOD'S PROMISE "

" THE JOY IN CHILHOOD'S PROMISE "

Ah, how fondly I recall, playing outside all day
My mother yelling, "It's time to come in!!"
And being upset, that the night-time had to come
Because running through the forest with friends,
Was such magical fun,
Carefree, summer days, using only imagination,
With kids from the neighborhood
Creating dragons and kingdoms,
Saving the damsel in distress
All in a days fun, only stopping for lunch,
Even the food tasted better when I was young
Baseball, marbles, and Birthday party's,
A never ending stream of laughter
Filled with brand new things to do,
Never bored at all,
Family picnics at the zoo,
Grilling in the back yard
Sleeping under the stars too,
Teasing with my sisters
And Saturday morning cartoons,
The world was one big playground then
How I cherish and admire,
The rollercoaster
Of those days in retrospect,
I believed in Santa then,
And that family's were a thing
That would never end,
Wow! ~ what a way to begin
This life-long wonderment,
We're bathing in....

What a great relatable write TT. And the way you wrote it straight and true I dig it. It is as you said most of it reminded me of summer time as a kid(best time of the year) where I was always on the go. Now I look back on it and it was like lifetime in another world with no idea I would be here and who I am now. Thanks for this bro. It is always good to picture and cherish your childhood. Love and respect. Peace.

Hi my paragon,

I have just seen two beautiful works of art.  The first one, the lovely "Norman Rockwell" painting you used for your illustration.  The second, the gut-wrenching beauty of your poem portraying those puerile days of our youth and innocence.  So different for the youth of today.  Saturday cartoons have become video games of destruction.  Santa Claus, just a figment of a five year olds imagination.  The modern dysfunctional families' children raised by nannies, or aunts, or daycare facilities.  Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end.  Beautiful write.

Peace, Love and Rockets,

xox Larry

Hello Tony...

Sounds like you a had a great childhood...

We didn't have video games and with just a few channels on television...

Rain, snow,  it didn't matter to matter to me...

I could always find something to do...

There was no limit to my imagination...

It's amazing one touch to a tree and I came up with lots of ideas...

Of course there were no warnings of don't be in a tree when lightening strikes...

I was in it before the first lightening strike...

There were plenty of other trees that noone was in...

It always seemed my risk of injury would be when I would have to come down because it was time to go in...

Great memories...

Thank you for sharing...

Hugs and Smiles!
