The Last Time I Saw Nico

The Last Time I Saw Nico

The last time I saw Nico, was on a Tuesday morn;

I had layed with him all evening, as his soul became reborn!

His fur was very wettened, from a trail of endless tears;

I’d lost my precious soulmate, the sum of all my fears!

I remember when I got him, a pup just three months old;

The minute that I saw him, I told his breeder “Sold”!

For he’d run up and he’d kissed me, and warmed my coldened heart;

I knew from that first moment, that we would never part!

The years passed by so quickly, time flies when having fun;

He brought me such complete joy, our hearts beat just as one!

No matter where I’d venture, he’d be right there at my side;

To give me all his tender love, with secrets to confide!

But one day all that ended, he sickened and then passed;

He took one final long breath, and it would be his last!

Now my heart lays open, shredded, it drips with reddened tears;

The last time I saw Nico, the days fade into years!
