THE LINEN BASKET

The linen basket stands outside the bathroom door
Ready to receive the clothes of the family once more 
Mother's underwear and Billy's smalls 
Tossed in with father's dirty overalls 

Socks, shirts and blouses were in the linen basket too 
All different colours red, pink and bright blue 
The linen basket is now starting to overflow 
Dirty clothes a plenty is the way to go 

Who will take the linen basket downstairs near to the washing machine?  
Who will start the process of getting these clothes clean ?
