Poem -

The Long Lost Memory

The phone suddenly started to ring,

The hospital was on the other line.

We didn’t believe this was a thing,

My mom said she really needed some wine.

I guess this meant it was the end.

All we wanted to do was cry alone.

She was almost like my best friend.

I just really wish I hadn’t picked up that phone.

I didn’t want to go to that wake,

Because I knew it wasn’t going to end well.

My body ached.

I wanted to just yell.

I can’t believe my grandma lost her battle.

I just wanted to bang on the desk and make a loud rattle.
