The lost doves of lonliness

The lost doves of lonliness

In the winter mornings breaking light.
I see my grief in the early
clouds of the day.
They are sad and always misty gray.
A thermal from a sun belonging
to happier times.
Carries them into the distance.
As if to carry my sadness away.
Always slowly so very slowly.

They visit me like lostdoves
singing their sadness.
like a
tune I have half forgotten.
I feel them upon my shoulders.
Whispering their empathetic mantra.
We mate for life, just like you did.
Now we are lost and alone as well.

Cooing their tears
Like the hue of the
shades of fading memory
.
