The Lucky Ones
The Lucky Ones
Lucky ones in life, always die young,
The rest of us will, struggle among.
We try our best to force a smile,
Convince each other, it’s worthwhile.
From the day we are born,
The path to happiness is torn.
Our destiny, not yours to take,
Life’s to chose is such a fake.
If I were king, so much I’d change,
In a heartbeat, I would arrange.
To all the same, the gift of life,
Applies to all and wildlife.
The only thing, that would be key,
Is happiness for you and me?
Nothing else would come close,
Who on earth would dare oppose?
Dare to dream, I always will,
Give power to words, takes a skill.
Until that day, when we agree,
I stand alone, until you see.

Wow GRANT!!..... this is great....... and VERY controversial subject matter......... does seem like all the greatest poets and musicians Morrison, Hendrix, Joplin, Mozart, etc. all died before they were 30........but the one thing that makes me hesitate is the powerful reflection that a soul experiences through long life........ so I find your write a brilliant controversy...........VERY well conceived........ and masterfully delivered....... Loved this my friend..........ALL STARS. PINNED........ well done...........T xo
Tony, I cannot thank you enough for your comments. I have read your work and its easy to see you have a talent. Furthermore you have taken the time to read my work. I can't wait to read your next work.Â

Wow, thanks Tony. Comments are such a gift. You are a man with power in his words, so it means a lot. Have you read this:
A New World
~~A New World
It’s not easy how to feel at times,
Sure you all feel the same.
Society makes slaves of us all,
I wonder who's to blame?
The people pull the strings,
The others take the fall,
If I reach out to you now,
Would you take the call?
They make all the rules,
We all follow blind.
Never questioning the why,
They pray we'll never find.
A reason to rise up,
The people sing as one,
The words will give us power,
Like bullets from a gun.
The idols from our past,
Had the strength to say what’s right,
We listen but don’t hear,
The message was let’s fight.
The system doesn't work,
Like honey to the bee.
We work hard for a queen,
Please just set us free.
If you don’t know what I mean,
Let’s go through my list.
Each one a symbol,
A candle in the mist:
I will start with Jonny Cash,
True diamond in the rough.
It wasn't till he died,
We couldn’t get enough.
The 60's was a golden time,
When love was free for all.
A new sound on the way,
"John Lennon this is Paul".
Can you ever imagine,
When they were both apart.
Sure destiny would find a way,
A new sound defined as art.
Since that point in time,
Sure there’s been a few.
But if we're really honest,
None as good as you.
I will keep on dreaming,
Burning passion inside my heart.
If we want to make a change,
Then this song is the start.

Holy Crap Grant!!........ the truth screams out to be heard here......... is this a song you wrote?......... because you certainly hit this out of the park by referencing a few of the most influential talents, poets, musicians, celeb, of ALL TIME......... souls that changed the collective course of modern culture.........I Love the simplicity in the delivery of this piece......... it's interesting that you would show this to me now ~ when just two days ago I posted a poem called "Accepting Gratuity" dealing with similar subject matter........ recognizing the truth about the reality in which you serve and then standing up for what is right regardless of consequence or whether or not you are a part of the ruling class or not are the kind of voices and actions that echo the loudest throughout time and the recording of its history..........I hadn't realized the power you were wielding with words my friend.......I will have to read more of your stuff........ or maybe I'm jumping the gun here because you haven't told me whether or not you wrote this piece......... regardless.......I do appreciate the cool gesture of pointing me in the direction of this VERY profound write.........Thanx for this Grant!!........... your cyber-friend and admirer..........T xo
Hi Tony, you are fast becoming my like minded brother from a cyber mother. I already loved you're writing style but your comments are so close to how I feel about life it gives me hope that I am not the only one. I am so happy right now.
