Poem -

The man who could walk through my fire

I was walking beyond fortresses of fire
Amazed by the scent that cascaded beneath the hallow of emptiness and forest
And in between the darkness and light of sunrise
I could see a man
He walked by my flames as his figure was warped by the halos of heat
And i watched him get closer, wanting to run
I thought he'd drench my sin with drops of his innocence
I thought he'd shame me and extinguish my flames and sparks
But instead he tamed them gently, with strokes of desire and want, so much that my flames grew accustomed to his scent, his body heat and oils, that they were raised even higher whenever he drew near
As he stood before me, my heart grew life for someone besides my own soul
I felt the coldness of my heart begin to fade slowly
And he took my hand and placed it over the fire and with one step, we began to walk towards each flame,
He held me close
I closed my eyes
He touched my lips
And when i opened my eyes
He became the man who would dance with me in unison to wolves howling at the moon
He became the one who would open the parts of me i chose to close
And as the fire rose
Our bodies became one
And our echoes became one with the sounds of the flames
And the forests became our home
As the fire became our fortress
And his love for me became my shelter
Of which I could no longer feel hurt, pain or shame I grew to love him
And the world around us grew to know the fires we made
Our hearts and tainted existences burning to stone as we rose like phoenixes through ashes that continue to burn in the midst of solitude and procreation of our love
And because we do not fight it, every temptation becomes second nature
And every opposing force and choice is no longer sin...it is simply the recognition of what makes us so inevitably and beautifully human.
