Oh mysterious Magpie did you pinch my golden wedding ring?
Coz I have heard people say that you like a bit of bling
And if you have got it, is it hidden under your wing?
Amidst your shimmer and sparkle, you mischievous little thing
Well I would like to take a look, but I cannot climb up that tree
Yon tall sycamore trunk is much to tall for me
Oh if I only had your wonderful wings, how happy I would be
Then when you were away foraging for food, well I could clamber up and see..
I have some strips of shiny paper, would you prefer this instead?
You could weave it in and out of twiglets and line your cozy bed
If you give me back my golden ring, I will gift to you some silver thread
Yours would stand out from the rest of those nests, with your beautiful feather bed…
