The Mountain Goatđź’š

The Mountain Goatđź’š

On yonder hill there stands a lady, she has clambered to the very top

To espy a fleeting glimpse of those mountain goats, that wander about aimlessly on the hop

She rests a while upon a rugged rock, and gazes down at that gorged deep drop

Picking pebble stones, she throws them down below into the river, and listens for that splashy plop

Although she can smell that pungent pong of stale urine, she has sniffed this once before

When she espied a lonely goat, lying hunched upon the grassy floor

She nipped her nose from such a whiff, as this wild billy goat lay as stiff as stone, with feasting maggots by the score

That smell was absolutely repugnant, it caused fits of coughing and made her throat sore

So she descends backdown to the valley, and retraces her wet, grassy tracks, to that countryside cottage of her front door…
