The newly hatched

 The newly hatched

The shrill call of the newly hatched,
Empty eggshells soon despatced.
Busy busy parent birds' forever on the run,
From early in the morn till the red of setting sun.
Success so far for this pair this year,
Spring was kind, bugs everywhere.
Fledglings find their feather cloak,
Soon they'll learn to peck and poke.
So the cycle of nature turns again,
Autumn gives way to winter rain,
Till long last, oh welcome spring,
Anew birds sweet love songs sing,
New nests built with clean new hay,
Mother bird has eggs to lay.
