THE PASSING

Caught in a spiders stare
the cream static paper
awaited her slit vein
too pour those unwanted words
outside
beyond the clear but hard safety
a playful scowling wind
lifted those crisp brown leafs
and casting as dice
threw the helpless corpses against the brisk
stern hedge

Her youth had turned into silver clouds
but age only danced without music
the frame caught her vision
from its gilded cage
he spoke of when love
was hidden in wrestling sacred forests

skyscrapers of bundled clothes
greeted every corner
each tied in a lovers knot
on one a feline goddess
proclaimed dominion

She smiled
from the image he smiled

The feline goddess remained
