THE PITS

THE PITS

FASTER, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER
Shouted the tough task master
I am working as fast as I can
It's a terrible environment for a working man

I work down the pits and dig for coal
One step better than being on the dole
The hours are long and the conditions are tough
No pension or benefits for me and all that stuff

Bringing home a pittance is harder each day
Surely there must be another way
I dream of riches, money and wealth
While my wife concerns herself with my fading health

I love the movie The Molly McGuieres......I grew up near coal country in Pennsylvania.  Solidarity forever....unfortunately the unions in the u.S. got fat and lazy in the late 1970's.....My Dad's UAW helped our family live a middle class life.

Hey James

I have not seen the movie for which you are referring but will check it out.

I have no experience or knowledge of the pit life except being in England during the 1980s during the miners strike ....Thatcher and all !
