THE RAVEN

The raven on the rooftop had something to say 
All the other birds were quiet and flew his way
They listened intently as the raven quickly spoke
Very articulate were his words and occasional joke 

The raven's speech ended and then was done 
Then he flew away to enjoy the spring like sun
One little bird though stayed behind unable to fly
I saw his sad plight and thought to myself why 

The raven flew back to help this ill stricken bird
Tried to console with a most comforting word 
This raven was good with words that's for sure
I guess he was the inspiration behind Nevermore
