The River

The River

As I walked along the path cut through the forest, the sun was finding it's way through the trees.

Natures fragrances and sounds were alive awakening the senses.

The music from the river was getting louder as each step passed.

I came across an old man with a fly rod rested on his shoulder and pipe in his hand.

He looked like a man who had followed this path many times before.

He gave me a nod and a smile, and as I passed he said , " there is a beautiful sight down by the river you'll see!"

Dirt turned to rock, the forest song changed to the river song

The sun danced across the rolling river as the river danced across the rocks

I walked to the rivers edge and placed my hand in as if to let it know I was there

As I sat on a rock sipping my coffee I saw a figure not far from me

A women walked along the bank with curiosity and purpose in every stride

As she got closer, her eyes and beauty became clear to me.

Time stopped, sounds stopped, except for the sound of my heart

With a smile and a nod she said ," the river is beautiful today!"

I nodded my head in agreement and said, " as beautiful as can be!"

As her figure slowly disappeared into the forest, I knew at that moment the river would always be a special place for me.
