THE ROBIN~
I watched the robin
both cheeky and nervous
resplendent in red
perched there on the shed
I welcomed him always
ever raising a smile
despite all the humdrumÂ
of this cold mortal mile
I fed the robin
there by the roses
hung a dish from the arch
amongst pink blowsy poses
a rickety dish
on three wire strings
I filled it up full
of seeds nuts and things
I knew that he liked it
he would come every day
me, smiling and watching
him, pecking away
I killed the robin
in the strong wind one day
which tipped up the dish
the seeds blown away
onto the bench
onto the ground
and I can only think
that his guard was down
I hold close the robin
the cat brought him in
the robin quite dead
the cat guilty as sin
such soft little feathers
such sad little face
the blue sky now lacking
one more flight of grace
Now~
I bury the robin
with the most loving care
under the arch
by the sweet roses there
And I whisper ~sorry~

Hi BM...so sorry for late reply but I wanted to say thankyou, I really appreciate you taking the time, I'm so glad you liked it, it's true...several times over, bloody cats but I love them to and sometimes I get annoyed with the birds...they have got wings for god's sake..lol ?
A sad story that is repeated in the gardens of the house frequently, the robin was entrusted and overcame the law of the strongest, rest the poor bird in peace.
I did, I'm so soft with animals ...I bury everything, they are all so beautiful, such a waste ...thankyou hugs ?
