The Seafarer

Steaming here and steaming there,
The seafarer without a care,
His workplace is apon the sea,
Miles away from family.

Part time husband and part time dad,
Full time stress at time never had,
Hello my darling and I'll see you soon,
An empty stare up to the moon.

Sit and wait and the time will pass,
Busy sweating complete that task,
One two three four five weeks down,
Time to return back to your home town.

Drinking eating dining out,
Blocking off from work in doubt,
Ramping down to normal life,
Fun begins with kids and wife.

Ramping up when we get the call,
Return to work for one and all,
Tell your friends about your leave,
Non stop action with no reprieve.

Formulate plans for next time home,
In times of quiet your mind will roam,
You live and work apon the sea,
But to be at home you'd rather be.
