The Search

The Search

Each of us has a different path to follow
That may lead to a certain fellow.
Be careful though, they’re not all nice,
And I made that mistake once or twice.

The first made me wonder
Of all the possibilities life has to offer.
Then he became my kryptonite
Even if it was only for one night

The next treated me like a queen
Though his vocabulary was too obscene.
His words were a veil that protected my eyes
From all his manipulative actions and lies.

The third came two years after I left the womb
Yet he thought my love life was as dusty as a tomb.
Cockier that the one in his pants,
I just talked to him to rant.

The last porridge was just right for Goldilocks
Seeing as he supported me around the clock.
I’m stupid for even almost losing him
But the rope keeping us together is wearing thin

If I lose him, I’ll fall off my path
And I don’t think I’ll survive the aftermath
For girls shouldn’t have to search far and wide
Just to find the right guy.
