The Second Mind

She held her breath and counted her steps,
The words of her mind consuming every movement,
She carried in every detail of the world around her,
Internally screaming at herself,
A separate mind inside of her's,
Compressed what was her,
She lacked empathy and with every step she curled her toes to the ground from inside her shoes,
In an attempt to feel anything,
She lacked a feeling of happiness and sadness and she felt nothing,
When people told her they loved her,
She had a block that kept her from believing them,
The second mind inside her own grew bigger and swallowed her first one,
The second mind took the place of the first,
It gave her horrid thoughts that caused her to take razors to her skin,
All she wanted to do was feel something,
Other than the desperation reeking from her original mind that sat unheard,
But she became nothing more than an emotionless body,
That was once very happy,
But not in years,
And then she was gone.
