THE SHINELESS LITTLE STAR

The stars lit up the summer night sky
I singled out one that made me nearly cry
For I saw a star that couldn't flick or shine
So sad to see like an empty bottle of wine

Not in a cluster and alone from all the rest
This poor little star was I'm sure depressed
Did this little star dread nightime to arrive ?
While the other stars were vibrant and alive

I watched this shineless star every night
Hoping one night that it would turn out bright
Then on a cold winter's night it shone for me
A happy little ending I'm sure you will agree
