The Struggle

Darkness surrounds me night and day,
Leaving me to wonder if there's any other way.

I walk in the dark and feel so free,
I wish the light would just let me be.

I struggle to find the light that's inside,
But there's no place inside me the darkness can't hide.

I've become a creature of the night,
Never venturing into the light.

Overcome with feeling so empty and alone,
I walk the world with no place to call home.

Embrace the darkness my heart cries,
Well my head tells me it's nothing but lies.

What I believe I truly don't know,
Finding my path has never seemed so slow.

My soul is filled with anguish and pain,
Sorrow falls over me like a torrential rain.

Some days I think everything will be great,
But then I realize that will never be my fate.

The darkness fills my entire soul,
Leaving me to wonder if I'll ever feel whole.

In my dreams I see my blood pooled on the floor,
Then finally my darkness will be no more.
