The Sun + Her Rays

He stood, an old man
on my very own moonlight
Casting his shadows,
unwanted... far out
A blot on my otherwise
precious lone place
He..unwelcome, intrusive and
still
He stood an old man dwarfing
all of my shadows
Blotting out all of my
darkness away
He pushed at my soul till it fell
out of moonlight
Falling... unwillingly...
Back into day
Now I can't find the moonlight
That soft gentle moon
Or a place where my soul
might lament
For that old man he pushes
and owns all my space
He tells me the moon is no
longer my place, as
He hands me the sunbeams I
no longer crave
Berates me so kindly
His old face so grave, as
he hands me so gently the
sun and her rays
Says...go forth in life now...
Be brave child, be brave...
