The Trees
Gather children
Around mother
And hear a tale
Like no otherÂ
Look to the trees
How tall they stand
Living life in harmony
Waiting hand in hand
A million yet will lean on them
Yet they will never fall
A hundred storms could a wether them
And they'd prevail through it all
No matter how the tables turn
Their roots stay buried deep
A quiet place of simplicity
Where the burdened soul can sleep
They take away the evil's bane
Though rotten to the core
They wipe away the travelers tears
And ask for nothing more
I tell you children
This is true
The tale that I
Present to you
The trees now
You will not find
Forgotten truly
Left behind
Gather by the window now
And peer into the yard
You'll see the tower sitting there
Standing firm and hard
Look down to the base
Where steel beams meet concrete
You'll see some tree trunks lying there
Sitting in defeat
I tell you thisÂ
For the reason be
I don't want you
To be like me

I can't say why, exactly, Anonymous Anonymous, but the first thing I thought of as I finished reading this was the Twin Towers, or World Trade Center, that was ravaged by terrorist attacks during 9/11.
The "trees" could be a metaphor for what was thought to be at the time part of an indestructible skyline.
Osama Bin Laden and his terrorist organization proved us wrong, that's for sure.
Excellent...

Dear Mr.Kuch, although that is not the intended meaning of the poem, I agree with your interpretation. I mourn the loss of those visiting the World Trade Center that day. (For future reference, you used the snoring emoji).
Best wishes

The family tree of life, its enduring resonance and ever flowing blood.
Dear Ian
This is a wonderful perspective and brings new light to the poem. I hope for more comments like yours to see different interperatations of the poem.
Yours truly
