~ The Voices Of Resistance ~
In a fetal pose,
Alone at nightÂ
I cry.
Alone at times, I hear
The voices of resistance
Coaxing me,
Taunting me,
Into believing I can not,
I will not,
Succeed
At anything I attempt,
As though the gods themselves
Had driven away
The soft snows of opportunity
Landing me
In the coy comfort
Of knowing that;
I almost won the race,
I almost walked on stage,
I almost voted for myself,
To become the man
I was meant to be,
Instead;
The insidious rationalizations,
The disgusting justifications,
Creep in
Like lurid sin,
"I can finish the song tomorrow!"
"Writers block has me hollow!"
"I just can't find the time!"
To defeat these,
The voices of resistance...
In a fetal pose,
Alone at night
I beginÂ
To cry,
When suddenly
Light,
And there
Etched upon the wall
The words,
"Awareness Makes Confidence"
Makes, perfect, sense,
As my shoulders relax
And I realize,
For the very first time,
I need never
Cry again,
Lest Beauty,
Overwhelm me...

Tony, firstly I must say I love Dali and I think you chose a particularly good painting of his for your piece today. The melting figure and instrument replicate the message I felt you conveyed in your poem. As if losing grip on yourself and your goals. There is a desperate plea felt at one point, then a sudden awakening. The power of mindfulness brings you strength and awareness of your own abilities. You have penned a wonderful journey from dark to lightÂ

Tony more well imagined and beautifully expressed for to overcome negativity, that devil whispering in ones ear we need a little light to guide, so our ship of creativity can find a safe harbour until calmer and more constructive waters of life call.
Great poem and I'm a Dali fan also, so the best of both worlds you have bestowed here.
I wish you well my poetry brother and will be catching up soon.
In the meantime Merry Christmas to you and all loved ones.
And all the good it can bring to an imaginative, brilliant mind my friend.
See you on the flipside and poetry kudos to you.Â
“To become the man
I was meant to be,”. Not sure this is even a thing, if there’s one right man out of potential. Wonderful contemplation Tony.
