He has waited for what seems like forever 
Being patient has been an endeavour 
Messages sent to and fro via the internet 
Nearly three years since they last met 

Covid has restricted their lives for sure 
She was too frightened to leave her door
Now on Sunday they will reunite at last 
Look to the future and ignore the past 

Masks will be worn as to the opera they go
Hand in hand and hearts will be a glow 
Smiles on their faces and tears of joy 
One happy girl and one contended boy
