The wall he built

The wall he built to protect his heartÂ
love again, and the wall falls apartÂ
Leaving the protection of his wallsÂ
The old familiar pain, And he begins to recall.
“Love is cold and ends in pain,Â
Is love really worth the suffering again?
Maybe love is just not for meÂ
This is something I finally see”.
Once again he builds a wall
Only this time it’s far too tall
He hesitates a moment there was a but
A final few words before the doors finally shutÂ
“Please understand it’s not you who I blame,
I know your feelings for me aren’t the same.
I’m just a shell of my former self,
I won’t find love with anybody else”.
She won’t love him backÂ
And that he must accept
But knowing and caring for herÂ
Is something he won’t forget
He knows that he must move onÂ
And With some time he shallÂ
Although he doesn’t want toÂ
Please understand that now.
Although he has nothingÂ
He still does not complainÂ
Infact he is gratefulÂ
To suffer no more painÂ
In these last few linesÂ
He just wants to wish her well
May all her dreams be trueÂ
That’s all he has to tell
He takes his final leave now,Â
With one last hope within.
That someday she will realiseÂ
What possibilities could of been.
But he will be long gone by then,
Inside his new built wall.
Never to come out again,Â
Never to hear the call.
With many fond memories to accompany his new pain,
And with his new vow “to never love again”.

Aw nice write of the power of love to do.the exact opposite of what it says on the tin ?
Hmmmmm.... Love has to be a master builder, the best of all builders. Love builds such good, strong, impenetrable walls. Or is it love? Maybe it is loss that is the builder and frames love. I am undecided on that as yet. But I am sorry you had to go through such hurt and I hope you heal and one day find a weakness in the wall to allow yourself to love and be loved again x
