~ THE WATCHER ~

~ THE WATCHER ~

I sat meditating
On the deepest subject matter
Guessing
Of each greedy hand
With wholesome hunger, nearly fed
The magic of living tangled
In the pure strangeness of thought
Wrestling ideas and abnormal truisms sought
How I need you
To search deep inside
See what's weighing heavily
On my mind...

From out of the night that covers me,
Like enlarged veins
That map my skin,
Comes a roadway into my head
Held willingly within
I can feel you there
A most, expected caller
Like, an attentive daughter
A Watcher
Protecting against the pilgrim born
To be the ever-seeker
Where the existing ethereal
Dares deliver my life a dirge
In this one-act play
Where, in its final scene
The watcher cries freedom
From a defiant future
A final curtain
From life's solemn coolness
With shadows falling down
As scars squeezing my hand
Tightly gripping
The quintessential me
Into a living limbo
Where,
I can feel you there
The Watcher,
Loose,
Inside my head...
