The wiggly worm

Ahh the long lean wiggly worm blindly burrowing his rocky route thru the sodden soil.. as his boneless, bendy body mishapes bulbous in his curling coil
Does he listen to the tip-tapping beats from tiny webbed feet as our hungry garden birds forage food amongst the earthy peat ? And is the knocking noise reverated along thru the soily tunnels echoing and deafeningly loud amidst the wriggly runnels ?
Yes we realise an earthworm cannot see but it’s entire body length feels vibrations with oversensitivity..
So hail this poor crawling creature with no limbs, ears and sight toiling on and on and yet on again..mustering all of his might.. Only to eventually poke his squashy head or tail thru the voids of earth and get immediately snapped up by the beak of a feathered friend with all it’s worth..
