THE WIND

A howling wind makes the trees sway
For it is sure very windy outside today
I watch as the clouds roll quickly by
The poor birds finding it difficult to fly

This wind makes my windows shake
Going outside would be a big mistake
Instead I sit safely in my living room chair
Grateful and thankful I'm not out there

How I wish the wind would settle down
Causing devastation and havoc in my town
Longing once more for quietness and still
As another gusty blast with a wintry chill
