The Womb

From the unknown, suddenly thrown
Into the mix,
An unsteady vibration seeking permanence
In time's limitations
On an ever-evolving earth,
An egg,
Cracked upon the shores of elusiveness
Oh, please allow what I am
To plant the seeds of content in the sun
To reap the juiciest of holy love songs
From the trees of this dizzying experience.
Life, is there but one?
Or have I emerged from the womb
Like a raven looking forward
To many lifetimes to come?
Perhaps, that's it, death
Death, the ultimate motivator
For, to my mind, it is darkness I recall
From which I have sprung so purposefully,
Into daylight's happy arms
And been embraced
By a glowing beauty surround,
With a deluge of magic memories,
And an omnipresent Love,
Ineffable...

There are certain aspects of this poem which remind me of Ted Hughes' Crow ... it's got the same sense of jaded wonder in the teeth of a new world...echoes of a mock-folkloric epic just getting started.
And, as with a lot of your work, it's those subtle hints of rhyme which draw resonances and bind the fabric of the piece together.
You've given us a beginning here...and we're hungry for more!!

Hi Tony,
This is brilliant # the cognitive development of human beings; the development from birth to childhood, from childhood to adulthood, from adulthood to death - from the cradle to the grave - the vicious circle of life and death -
I am pinning this ##
