The World

The World

As the sun set below the horizon,
As the fireflies came out,
As the moon came over the ocean,
And the stars arose without doubt

I sit on the porch,
Thinking of all of God’s creations,
How perfect the world is,
With all its adoration,

But then, lights flickered on,
And the stars disappeared from view,
And garbage truck went by,
With the trash from the day all in the tuck askew

The world gets hot,
The icebergs melt,
The fireflies that once flew through the lot,
Are now gone

Humans have destroyed the world,
And few actually care,
We try to help, but it never works
So we try even harder, with accomplishment
