The World Red

The World Red

Sun and sky
Ant to sea
Without reality a surf
Life wouldn't me,

Far enough out
Float ocean's calm,
Below, water world
Fish flee from....

Waves carry a freedom
Pure serenity cruising tubes
Bail, worse kind of washing machine
Cleanses all the wrong moves,

It wasn't take-off, or bad wave
Won't chalk it up to balance,
Bogus board crashed something
While deep into victories dance.

Finally! Air combs
These gills
In a brief moment spotting a circling fin
Immense pain impales thy leg
Before arms raise to swim away,

Grind and thrash,
Watery sounds of broken bone
Muted to deaf but not to feel
Flash life, wish to be born at home;

Shock pours through body
Realities next moments live in my head
Forever, drifting unbelieving
Water world now red.

In honor of Shark Week.
