There

The past is there, dark and cold,
two could become three, and we could grow old.
But here is the present, warm and bright,
Could I throw my future away tonight?
The instinct is there, to help and to raise,
but if I return, we'll go up in flames.
Should I leave my future to help my past?
Sure, we used to have a blast,
but we never could stay without a fight,
Could I throw my future away tonight?
A rumour becomes a bump, and a boy,
but I know that the pain would out shadow the joy.
She is not mine, and nor is the boy,
and I know that the pain would out shadow the joy.
I can't help but think, will he know about me?
Her laughter and smiles and pain I can see,
what will she tell him, what will she say?
'He was the boy who threw it away'?
I know I can't see him, I know he's not mine,
So I sit myself down and I write some more lines.
Which she'll never read, and neither will he.
But here is the present, warm and bright,
I won't choose my past tonight
