These four walls

These four walls

These four walls know my history
Yes these brick blocks have seen it all
They’ve watched me cry and  listened to laughter
and seen my children growing tall
If these four walls could speak to me oh how I wonder what they would say
I would love to ask them truthful tales and yarns from their bygone yesterday

My old house has seen some changes long before it belonged to me
So goodness know’s how many faces these four walls would actually see
Are there characters locked inside the bricks and mortar ?
Ghosts from those who lived within
If this house was a news reporter
what interesting stories it would spin

I’ve altered the walls with different colours Oh so many times before
Filled it’s rooms full of furniture
Bought new carpets on the floor
Windows, walls and doors have all been changed
Infact I’ve even renewed the roof
Everything in this house has been rearranged and I have kept my photographs for proof
When I am but a distant memory
timelessness has passed me by
these four walls will still be standing
they watched me leave and said “Goodbye”
