Poem -

The Things She Didn't Say

It was the way she stared,
Into the distance,
Into the nothingness.

It was that smile,
That beautiful smile
That had long been lost
Along with everything else.

It was the long hair she grew out
To cover the fear
That burned in her eyes.

For the same words
That could push her forward,
Also pulled her back.

Her soft eyes,
A bright sky blue,
Faded, to a colorless grey.

Her crimson red cheeks,
Now stonewashed,
A pale white.

It was her soul,
Which she gave away,
But at what cost?

For the same words
That could push her forward,
Also pulled her back.

It was the image
That she hid behind.
The things she said,
Lie after lie.
I’m okay.
I’m alright.

It was the rumors
That were spread
About the girl
By her former friends.

All the people,
Who didn’t care,
Who didn’t help,
Who wouldn’t dare.

For the same words
That could push her forward,
Also pulled her back.

Help me.

It was the way she stared,
Into the distance,
Into the nothingness.

For the same words,
That could push her forward,
Also pulled her back.
